Test version of new NMR Signup (Posted:Wed Jul 9,2008)

Users, A test version of a new Instrument signup is availabe at
/cgi-bin/nmr_test/signup.pl
Some new features include:
  • Reservation block can be any length (with some minimum length enforced)
  • Login through UWM ID or account on hal. User needs to be on Userlist to access. User needs to be authorized for particular instrument to reserve time.
  • New interface to add/edit/remove entries.
  • Adjustable time increment on the displayed hourly increment
  • Autofit of the schedule to the width of the screen
I have tested the new signup with Firefox 2 and 3, Internet explorer 7 and Safari. If you are using a different browser, in particular Internet Explorer 6 (and can't upgrade to IE7), please test and make sure it works.
I am still working on setting up enforcement of signup rules, and maybe a help section in case it is not as intuitive as I hope. The new program will replace the old one soon, so please let me know of any problems you encounter, in particular with older browsers.
Note that any reservation you make with the test version are just for testing, all NMR time you want to reserve is still with the old system until the switchover.

Do not use BBO probe (Posted:Mon May 12,2008)

  • Date: 05/12/2008

The BBO probe on the DRX-500 has a broken glass insert and can not be used until a new insert has been installed.

Retune DRX-500 to C-13 after use (Posted:Tue Jun 5,2007)

as everybody is using the 500 right now, please remember that most of the usual 300 users do not know how to retune the probe. I therefore request that everybody doing experiments involving nuclei other than proton or C-13 please retune the probe back to C-13 when done. If you are not around at the end of your experiment please arrange for somebody to be there to tune back to C-13 (I am happy to do it during normal weekday hours). Thanks for your cooperation

DPX300 down (Posted:Thu May 31,2007)

The DPX-300 magnet just quenched during a He-fill. As we had problems with the magnet before and there had been increased boiloff during the last few weeks, Bruker recommends a warmup and repump of the magnet.
That means the instrument will be down for a while. Users will have to use the DRX-500 until the DPX-300 is back up. I will be putting in the BBI probe tomorrow and create a temporary user account "nmr" on that instrument to be used by anybody without a personal account on that instrument.
Anybody who needs long term experiments on the 500 please contact me, otherwise the 300 signup rules will apply
