Dear Sailors,
We will be taking most of our fleet out of the water this Saturday, October 15th. Arrive as early as 8 AM and stay for 3-6 hours helping derig the masts, lift the boats on the crane, scrub the hulls, and maneuver the trailers. Breakfast pastries and coffee will be provided in the morning, sub sandwiches and/or pizza over lunch.
Note that Boats In and Out always occur at the Milwaukee Yacht Club (MYC) across from Lafayette Hill Road and Alterra by the Lake. It’s the entrance labeled as follows:
McKINLEY MARINA
Boat Launching
Slips A-D
Food and Beverages
Yacht Club
Once inside that entrance, parking is to the left and MYC’s grounds to the right. Come through the gate and you’ll find us amongst all the boats and near the cranes next to the lake!

Sailors,
It appears that the weather for Saturday looks pretty crumby, while the weather for Sunday is supposed to be nice. We typically don’t like to reschedule things for weather, but in this case it looks like a no-brainer:
So, Boats In will now take place on SUNDAY, April 17th, 9:00 am at the Milwaukee Yacht Club (same place as before)!
Feel free to contact me if you’ve got any questions, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Looking foward to what promises to be a great season,
Nic
We started a presence on the new orgsync server at http://uwm.orgsync.com/org/sailingclubatuwm23261. Eventually all (or almost all) of our web page will be moved to the new location.
At this point only the event calendar has been moved to the new location, and all links in the menu still point to the old web page. That will change as more and more content is moved over. Once the move is complete the new page will be accessible as http://www.scuwm.org
The Sailing Club @ UWM’s fleet of boats are scheduled to come out of the
water on Saturday October 23rd at 9:00am. We will be working until about
2:00pm with lunch being served. Stay tuned for a email from Commodore Nic
Learned for all the details.
This email is being sent out as a request for volunteers PRIOR to Saturday
at 9:00am and for anyone with some specialized equipment.
I am specifically looking for anyone who:
- Can volunteer a vehicle with a trailer hitch to move empty trailers
from our storage yard to Milwaukee Yacht club (about 3 miles) on Friday
October 22nd or Saturday October 23rd before 10:00am. Any non-hybrid
vehicle will do fine.
- Can volunteer a vehicle with a trailer hitch to move boats from
Milwaukee Yacht club to our storage yard on Saturday October 23rd after
11:00am. Any non-hybrid vehicle will do fine for our (3) Ynglings and the
(2) dhingys but a V6 will be better for the Soling.
- Is an early-bird and is willing to bring the (3) Ynglings and the
(2) dhingys to Milwaukee Yacht Club starting at 8:00am.
- Is an early-bird and is willing to bring supplies from the UWM dock
box to Milwaukee Yacht Club starting at 8:00am. Supplies including life
jackets, cleaning products, and tools.
- Can volunteer a vehicle to move Meander’s motor from Milwaukee
Yacht club to 35th and National Ave between 10:00am and 11:00am. Pickup
or hatchback would would best. It can even be a hybrid.
- Additionally anyone with the following tools please bring them:
- Pressure/power washer
- Radio
Please email me or call/text me 414 736 2722 to let me know if you can
provide any of the above items or services. Otherwise I hope to see you
all at boats out!
This link was brought to my attention by Nic, who in turn got it from one of our members. It is pretty cool, but be aware that the simulator does not behave the same as our Ynglings in all regards, so take that into account if you plan using the simulator to practice for your skippers test.
- Date: May 1, 2010
- Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Location: Milwaukee Yacht Club
- Contact: Fleet Captain
he forecast for the weekend continues to look bleak with forecasts for
thunderstorms the majority of the day on Saturday. Concerns for the club
member’s safety have forced us to reschedule Boats In 2010. Boats In will
be rescheduled for the following Saturday, May 1st at 9:00am.
Work has been occurring all week on the boats already at MYC. Meander,
our cruise boat, is scheduled to be placed into the water during any break
in the weather this weekend. Some of the remaining boats have been
receiving fresh coats of paint and other maintenance in preparation of
going in.
There is more work to be done on the boats remaining at MYC and the boats
that are still in winter storage. The forecast for the coming week is
sunny and mild. If anyone is available during the day and would like to
help with any of the remaining maintenance you can contact any of the
people listed below. These people have been working this past week and
know what has been done and what still needs to be done. They will also
be working at MYC off and on between 10am and 4pm this week and could use
some additional assistance from anyone available, no experience needed!
The more work that gets done during the week the easier Boats In will be
and the more enjoyable and reliable our fleet will be during the upcoming
sailing season. You will receive volunteer hours for your time that will
count towards your 20 hours of required volunteer hours and your 50 hours
of volunteer time to get the reduced membership rates.
Look forward to seeing you all at Boats In Saturday May 1st at 9:00am,
Hi everyone,
Just thought you might like to see the article on us in the UWM Post. Though just to warn you, it’s not entirely accurate. Still, the publicity can’t hurt. . .
