    Our Fleet:

    Boats owned by the Sailing Club at UWM:
    • 7 Ynglings
    • 3 Solings
    • 1 Boston Whaler, 1 motor Dingy
    • 1 Catalina 25 Cruiseboat
    • several 470's, a catameran
    Boats currently in the water
    • Ynglings (moorings): Iyruna (red), Revelation (white), Zephyrus (white), Argus (green), Courageous (light blue)
    • Cruiseboat (mooring):Meander
    • Solings (drydocked): Challenge (MYC)


    Fleet Details
    Currently, the Club maintains a keelboat fleet of 7 Ynglings, and 1 Soling, and a larger day-sailer, a . The Club receives donations of boats from time to time, and has a small variety of centerboard craft, used primarily for inland lake events.
    The Soling is a 27' Olympic class race boat; the related Yngling (the Club's instructional boat) is a 21' racer. The Yngling Class is currently used in the Women Olympics competition.
    The club's Solings are used to participate in the regular races organized by the Milwaukee Yacht club.

  • How safe are these boats?
    All Club boats meet or exceed Coast Guard Safety Regulations, and carry US Coast Guard Auxiliary Safety Inspection Decals. Emergency and First Aid kits are normally maintained on every Club boat.
    The Ynglings and Solings have heavy fixed keels for stability, and are capable of sailing in much heavier weather than you will experience in any of your lessons. The Club's boats were also chosen because of their excellent response characteristics that increase your control over the boat and confidence during learning.
